MIBF 2015 hosts Iran as guest of honor

MOSCOW, Aug. 18 (MNA) – Iranian publishers and cultural entities are endowed a special area of 250 square meters in Moscow International Book Fair (MIBF).

Iran’s cultural attaché in Moscow announced that in the 28th edition of Moscow International Book Fair (MIBF) part of Iran’s publication industry will be represented in a 250 square meter area devoted to Iran along with a host of culture and art workshops to be held there as Iran is the guest of honor in this edition of the event.

The official said that the Iranian publishers are comprised of Tehran Municipality, Iranology Foundation, Sa’di Foundation, Tehran Book Garden, Iran and World Touring Institute, Samt, Allameh Tabatabaie University, Allameh Ja’fari, Tehran University, Hafiz, Shabaviz, House of Literature, and the Syndicate of the Sacred Defense publishers.

The Iranian publishers will present books in Farsi, Russian, Arabic, Azeri, and Tajik, according to the official.

The Moscow International Book Fair (MIBF) was established in 1977 and is an official member of the International Organization of Book Publishers.

The annual exhibition provides both readers and industry professionals with the opportunity to be introduced to the latest literature news and meet many writers.

The event is also a powerful marketing for the book industry, as the fair participants study vital tendencies of the publishing market, strengthen contacts and develop new ones with Russian and international companies and sign contracts.

Last year, publishers from 63 countries participated in this exhibition and Iran put more than 500 book titles on show, including the third and fourth volumes of a well-known Iranian book Good Tales for Good Children by Mahdi Azar Yazdi translated into Russian were showcased, along with Divan of Omar Khayyam presented in five languages and a Russian version of Muslims Knowledge written by Mohammad Reza Hakimi.

The 2015 edition of the fair is scheduled to be inaugurated on September 2 and four days after the opening of the event it will be concluded on September 6.
